Recently I had the pleasure of trying some Old Forester 1870 Original Batch Bourbon.

It is light in color like a Canadian Whiskey and its nose smells much like a Canadian Whiskey, nothing particularly outstanding. It smells of the grain with slight oak to it. It has a watery and light mouth feel, but a good amount of grassy and oaky flavor to its mid. Its finish diminishes pretty quickly leaving a sweet, but not unpleasant aftertaste. It is a very smooth drinker, but possesses not the best flavor profile – not enough of the bite that I like in a bourbon. Overall, however, it’s a pretty decent pour and if you’re looking for something smooth, this could fit the bill. I rate it at an 80.
